Malibu grew up at the corner of Sustancia Road and El Rancho Boulevard in East Los Santos, behind her best friend, Graves. The pair often watched "businessmen" visit the Murrieta oil fields and soon learned there was another way to become sucessful in this city, and talked frequently about what they would do if they ever chose that line of work.
After she got her first tattoo at the shop across the intersection, Malibu struck up a relationship with the artist, Spider, and when he opened a second shop in Vespucci, they moved into an apartment nearby on the canal. Unfortunately for Spider, Malibu was not one for commitment - while the relationship did not last, they both found it difficult to end the physical aspects, and Malibu frequently returned to the apartment for "coffee".
During this time, she and Graves began dabbling in the counterfeiting business, and Spider gave Malibu a loan to purchase a cash warehouse just around the block from his new tattoo parlor. It didn't take long for her to earn enough to move into a luxury apartment Downtown at Integrity Way. Shortly after, she purchased an old bank office at a foreclosure auction on Strawberry Avenue, quickly converting it into a counterfeit document and forgery business.
Always thinking of expansion, Graves opted to start making a name for themselves outside the city. He set up a motorcycle club in Sandy Shores, and the pair started running contracts, particularly ones that meant taking down The Lost MC, a group they had always despised. One night, after leaving the clubhouse, Malibu stopped at the Yellow Jack Inn with the intent to hustle drunk patrons in darts, instead meeting her match in Zander, who had come to the bar with the same plan. They placed a little wager, the implication being that the loser owed the other "coffee". They don't know who actually won, as they both had coffee anyway, and entered into an undefined relationship.

Malibu introduced Graves to Zander, and Zander introduced them to his own business partner, ET. Together they formed a small empire supplying citizens in the Rockford Hills/Vinewood area with marijuana and cocaine. They slowly became rivals of The Lost, leading to frequent fights at Tequi-la-la.

It wasn't always all about business. Malibu met P-nut, Zo, CJ, Kennedy, and Wolf - aka DivisionKingz - at a bar. While she was able to strike up an arrangement with them, allowing her to tag along as they plotted and executed a small heist, as a group they were far more interested in partying.
